David Beckham donating all the gifts he received

David BeckhamDavid Beckham and his wife Victoria showed their charitable side by donating all the gifts they received, as new parents, to charity.

Ever since the former Spice Girls member gave birth to the couple’s first daughter, Harper Seven, on July 10, the family has been flooded with presents.

According to Britain’s Mail on Sunday, the freebies, including 14 strollers, baby clothes, a swing set and changing tables, are worth up to 9,000 dollars.

But the celebrity couple decided to give away the gifts to thrift stores across Los Angeles.

"We try to discourage companies (from sending gifts). However, we do receive a lot of unsolicited goods which are sent to deserving charities," Contactmusic quoted a spokesperson, close to the couple, as saying.

Deathly Hallows Part 2 box office records

Deathly Hallows Part 2The final "Harry Potter" film shattered box office records worldwide with a whopping $168.6 million in U.S. and Canadian ticket sales over the opening weekend and nearly $476 million globally.

The staggering domestic total for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2" is the best three-day opening for a film ever, distributor Warner Bros said on Sunday. It beat the previous record of $158.4 million over the initial three days for the 2008 Batman movie, "The Dark Knight."

Internationally, the finale for "Harry Potter" captured $307 million in 59 countries since it opened last week, another record. That includes weekend sales plus Wednesday and Thursday for some markets.

The prior record for an overseas opening belonged to "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," the fourth instalment of the series released in May, which took in about $260 million outside North America in its debut.

The eighth film in the "Harry Potter" series about a teenage wizard and his friends battling against evil also set records for the largest opening-day domestic sales total, largest midnight screenings and largest opening on giant IMAX screens.

The movie took in an average $38,526 on more than 4,300 screens, according to Warner Bros, a unit of Time Warner Inc . It was the first "Potter" film also released in 3D.

"Harry Potter," already the highest-grossing film franchise ever with over $6.4 billion in global ticket sales, is based on the novels of British author J.K. Rowling.

Lindsay Lohan to start psychological counselling

Lindsay LohanActress Lindsay Lohan, who visited rehabilitation centre to get rid of alcohol and drug addiction, has been asked by the court to start a one-on-one psychological counselling within 21 days.

The troubled star appeared before Judge Stephanie Sautner at a Los Angeles courthouse Thursday for a progress hearing where the judge voiced her concerns that Lindsay has not enrolled in one-on-one counselling, as required part of her sentence for taking a necklace from a boutique.

"We’re two months into this and in those two months she has spent over a month incarcerated. She needs to find an individual therapist," Judge Sautner told Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, reports contactmusic.com.

"I’m going to give her 21 days to provide proof that she has found a counsellor. You are to provide proof to this court. If I do not have proof in 21 days, I will revoke probation and set up a hearing," she said.

Shawn said, "She (Lohan) is indicating to me that that will not be a problem."

William and Catherine moved to official marital home

Royal newlyweds Prince William and Catherine have finally moved into their first official marital home in Kensington Palace, it has been revealed.

The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge have chosen a ‘modest’ apartment, where William once lived with his late mother Princess Diana, and will use it as their London base.

Although their home boasts one of the most exclusive postcodes in the country, it is a fraction of the size of the five-bedroom, five-reception-room suite occupied by new neighbours, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

Until now, William and Kate have used the Clarence House apartment that the prince shared with his brother, Prince Harry, when in London.

William and Catherine

However, royal sources confirmed the couple had moved all their furniture into the renovated Palace apartment and stayed there for a couple of nights last week.

The palace, however, is only a temporary move as it is seen as being too small for long-term use – including bringing up a family.

The couple, both 29, still considers their rented farmhouse on the island of Anglesey as their main home.

Like all senior royals, William and Kate will not be charged rent for their flat.

Harry Potter has turned out to be as expected

The final adieu to `Harry Potter` has turned out to be as expected - special! Fanatical fans are queuing up for the last movie of the multi-billion dollar franchise, and literally living up the spirit of wizardry by sporting black cloaks, witch hats, and magic wands.

A group of seven college girls were spotted with black hats and a wand each at a multiplex here while a group of boys, oblivious to the sweltering heat and humidity, wore black cloaks to the hall to celebrate the magic of "Harry Potter" as the last of the lot released Friday.

"We have been waiting for this so long. It is an emotional moment for us to come and see the final movie. It is unbelievable that there will no Potter to look forward to after this. But we wanted to do something special our way, and give Harry Potter a special farewell that it so rightly deserves," said 21-year-old Samridhi Mathur, who attracted a lot of attention with her pointy hat.

The fans sat on the edge of their seats during action sequences, and boy wizard Harry`s victory called for cheers galore.

"We love you Harry!" viewers cheered and hooted in the hall. Emotions or celebrations - whatever it was - the craze for it was alive and kicking.

The Harry Potter phenomenon, which came straight out of struggling single mother J.K. Rowling`s imagination, cast its first magical spell on Indian fans in 2001. A decade later, that magic has increased manifold.

Disappointment had set in among fans as the advance bookings did not open until Thursday evening due to a reported rift between multiplex owners and the film`s distributors over revenue-sharing. But the script ran as per schedule thereafter.

Multiplex owners admit that all shows for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2", which has set a new box office record in the US by amassing $43.5 million from midnight screenings alone, are currently houseful.

Harry Potter

"All the shows are full. The response is phenomenal. People of all age groups - young, middle-aged and old are coming to watch the film and enjoying it," Punit Sahay of Spice Cinemas told reporters.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Friday`s early estimates for the movie in India is Rs.4.75 crore - including all four versions - English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The movie has opened in a 2D and a 3D format, but if Munish Sharma of Satyam Cineplexes is to be believed, Indian viewers are lapping up the 3D version. However, any official figures are yet to be received.

The last movie of the over $6 billion franchise ends as tradition - with the victory of good over evil as Harry Potter, with his friends, manages to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes and the evil Lord Voldemort`s ashes fly up in the air.

The movie just doesn`t end at that - it "pleasantly" surprises by fast forwarding 20 years ahead and showing Harry, his friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley married, with children, says Prachi Khanna, a 25-year-old Potter enthusiast, without hitting on the spoiler alert button.

"Of course, the books end on a happy note, with Harry married to Ginny, and Hermione and Ron settled together with kids. But I didn`t expect that they would show it in the film.

"It was a little weird to see these young, 20-something actors in an avatar of being 40, but the inclusion of that track was a pleasant surprise. It was nice that they ended it the way the book ends - completing the franchise in every sense," said Khanna.

Police declined comment Wednesday.

A tuxedoed and remarkably comfortable Chris Evans

LOS ANGELES – At the back of a lavish Hollywood party where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are serving as the guests of honor, past the likes of Tom Hanks and Nicole Kidman, stands a tuxedoed and remarkably comfortable Chris Evans casually leaning against the bar, hair slicked back, champagne flute in hand.

Though he`s been acting in films since he graduated from high school, Evans is among the youngest A-list attendees at the posh British Academy of Film and Television Arts soiree, one of the stops on the royal couple`s recent trip to the U.S.

Yet wait, it seems Evans` coolness might be as much of a facade as his costume in "Captain America: The First Avenger."

"I just thought, `There`s no chance these people will have any idea who I am,`" the 30-year-old actor remarked a week later during an interview to promote the live-action, 3-D rendition of the Marvel comic series.

It`s hard to imagine that anyone, including British royalty, isn`t aware of Evans, who`s already played a Marvel superhero on the big screen: the wisecracking Human Torch in both "Fantastic Four" films.

The announcement that Evans would personify Captain America was met with both suspicion and excitement from fans. It`s a feeling Evans understood.

The actor, perhaps better known for his hunky roles in mainstream ensembles like "Cellular" and "Not Another Teen Movie" than his nuanced performances in indies such as "Sunshine" and "London," is "more nervous than anything else" about the Friday debut of "Captain America."

The film, about a scrawny orphan named Steve Rogers who transforms into a chiseled supersoldier after being injected with a top-secret serum during World War II, is the final Marvel film before next year`s fanboy-fantasy-come-true, "The Avengers."

"It`s a double-edged sword," said Evans. "On one hand, it`s terrifying, nerve-racking and intimidating. There`s a swirl of negative emotions that arise. On the flip side, it`s great. You have to maintain a healthy amount of respect. You have to understand this is where I want to be. It could be so much worse. My life has unfolded in a fortuitous fashion."

Chris Evans

Evans, whose father is a dentist and mother is the artistic director of a youth theater in Concord, Mass., spent four months bulking up with a trainer in order to fill out Captain America`s uniform. Computer-generated effects were used to shrink his body down for the scenes featuring Rogers before he became the Nazi-fighting peak of human perfection.

In the film, which is set mostly during World War II, Rogers is aided in the battle against an occult-obsessed Nazi commander nicknamed Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) by British agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), gadget whiz Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), slick sidekick `Bucky` Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and overbearing Col. Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones).

For his performance as the patriotic posterboy, Evans was inspired by a childhood friend named Charlie Morris "who always did the right thing." Instead of the snarky silliness that Evans memorably brought to the "Fantastic Four" movies, he instills Rogers with a subdued stoicism. In fact, Evans` casting compelled the screenwriters to craft less goofiness.

"We could dial back on the outright jokes in the script because he brings a likeability and warmth without having gag lines to punch it up," said screenwriter Christopher Markus. "In the beginning, when we were writing in a vacuum, we felt the pressure that he`s getting too stiff. Give him a joke. Chris very wisely even took out a few of the wisecracks."

Evans hopes for "a long journey of character development" with Rogers, who will team up in the present day with Chris Hemsworth`s Thor, Robert Downey Jr.`s Iron Man and Samuel L. Jackson`s Nick Fury in "The Avengers" next year. The screenwriters also left gaps in his World War II exploits for "Captain America" sequels to flashback to in the future.

"We had to leave room in what we were telling for a career in World War II," said screenwriter Stephen McFeely. "When he comes back in the present day, he has to be a seasoned soldier and a legend. He can`t be that having done just one battle. We knew that within the structure of whatever we`re doing is that there had to be spaces where you could go."

Evans` reluctance to commit to not only "Captain America" but "The Avengers" and possible sequels — a superpowered endeavor that could last a decade — has been well documented. Evans felt another kind of pressure on set, too. He wasn`t comfortable in the bulky Captain America costume until about halfway through the film`s production in London last year.

"The first time I put the costume on, I was still apprehensive," said Evans, who has been filming "The Avengers" this summer in Albuquerque, N.M. "Then it just hits you. You`re in it. You`re in it now. Halfway through filming, it felt nice and comfortable. It`s the source of the character. When you put the costume on, you can`t help but feel heroic."

If the movie isn`t as successful as "Iron Man" and "Thor," the blame could be placed on Evans, who will also be seen in theaters later this year as a drug-addicted lawyer in the drama "Puncture" and as the womanizing next-door neighbor of Anna Faris` character in the romantic comedy "What`s Your Number"" It`s not something he likes to think about right now.

"We overanalyze the past and we worry about the future," said Evans. "We don`t spend enough time in the moment. I think doing that in this world, even if you have a six-picture deal with Marvel, you can get stuck in a pretty negative place. It`s daunting, so you just say to yourself, `You know what" All I have to do is deal with today.`"

Its Autobots vs. Decepticons time again!! Get ready to meet all your favourite Autobots, Decepticons and many other new characters, along with Sam Witwicky, Seymour Simmons, Major Lennox and the rest. In this latest instalment of the Transformers series, we have the Autobots learning about a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the dark side of the Moon. The Autobots and the Decepticons are on a race to get to the spacecraft, and take possession of what's inside. The Autobots identify the spacecraft as the Ark, which was piloted by the great Sentinel Prime, mentor of Optimus Prime.

The landing of Apollo 11 on the moon is seamlessly woven into this story, and it shows that President Kennedy pushed NASA to ensure that it was the Americans who were the first to land on the moon, to beat the Russians in finding out what the unidentified object on the moon was. The Autobots, working with the NEST team, help in identifying and taking out an illegal Middle-Eastern nuclear plant. It is now that Optimus Prime stumbles upon a fuel cell, and upon questioning Charlotte Mearing (Frances McDormand), gets to know about Apollo 11 and the details of the mission. Wanting to investigate it further, Optimus and Ratchet take a ship to the moon, and closely inspect the Ark. Here, they find a weakened Sentinel Prime and five metal pillars.

Sam Witwicky has graduated from college, and has won a Presidential medal of honour, but all these are not enough to land him a job. The only job that he lands is that of a mail room employee at a technology firm run by an eccentric Bruce Bezos (John Malkovich). Sam is now residing in Washington D.C. With his new girlfriend Carly Spencer (Rosie Huntington-Whitley), who works for a car collector boss Dylan Gould (Patrick Dempsey). Dylan is constantly hitting on Carly, gives her expensive gifts, and invites her to parties at his place. Sam is accosted by his co-worker Jerry Wang (Ken Jeong), who gives him a lot of papers and clippings that talk about the dark side of the moon, before jumping out of his office window to his death.

Meanwhile, Optimus and Ratchet resurrect Sentinel with the Matrix of Leadership, and investigations into the mystery of the metal pillars begin. Sam gets involved in the investigations against Carly's wishes, as she has already lost her brother to a war involving the Transformers. Sam enlists the help of now retired Seymour Simmons, and they discover the secret behind the pillars and the reason for Sentinel being left behind. This starts a chain reaction of events, wherein Sentinel turns rogue, destroys half of Chicago, and creates a spacebridge with the pillars to bring Cybertron near the Earth's atmosphere, resurrect it with resources from Earth using humans as slaves. The Autobots learn that Sentinel had earlier entered into a deal with Megatron and is hence on the side of the Decepticons.

The Autobots are led to be exiled from Earth. The spacecraft that they leave in is ambushed and gunned down by Starscream, leading to people thinking that Optimus and all the Autobots are dead. Meanwhile Carly is taken prisoner, the Decepticons are taking over the country and running amok. Will Sam be able to save the day once again? What happened to the Autobots? Will Earth's resources be stripped off? Will all humans end up being slaves? Watch the movie to know the rest!

The action sequences, the realistic special effects and the 3D effects are gripping. The director has ensured that a lot of commercial elements are thrown in to keep the viewers engrossed in the movie from beginning to end. Though logic may be missing at some points and the storyline might seem a little weak, the other aspects more than compensate. Michael Bay has ensured that he has come up with another winner in the Transformers franchise! Head over to a theatre near you to catch all the action in 3D, and have an action packed ride with the Transformers!
